Step by Step Guide for Logo Embroidery and Heat Transfers
1. Determine whether you want embroidery or heat transfers (or some
of each). If you don't know, consider these facts:
Heat transfers have a lower initial, one-time setup cost than
embroidery ($10 - $20 for heat transfers vs. $35 and up for embroidery)
Heat transfers are less expensive per piece than
embroidery, especially when comparing large size designs (greater than 6" in
any dimension)
Heat transfers are
priced based on size (in inches), number
of colors, and quantity. A large, full back design costs only slightly
more than a small, left chest design. A four-color design will cost
roughly twice what an identical one-color design will cost. A transfer
from a 24 piece order will cost roughly half of what a transfer from a 6 piece
order will cost.

Embroidery is
priced based on size (in number of stitches) and
quantity. Number of colors (up top 15) does not change the price. A one-color,
9000 stitch design costs the same as a six-color, 9000 stitch design.
Embroidery from a 12 piece order will cost half what embroidery from a 1 piece
order will cost.

Heat transfers need a very smooth fabric for application,
such as t-shirts,
jersey knit polos, or sweatshirts.
Embroidery can go on t-shirts, jersey knit polos, and
sweatshirts, too. Embroidery can also go on other fabrics such as fleece,
pique knits, wool, sweaters, and even leather.
Large, dense (in number of stitches) embroidered designs
are often inappropriate for light fabrics. Large stitch count designs on thin
fabrics tend to pucker the fabric excessively.
If you don't have a logo but want graphics in your logo
apparel, consider using our heat transfer
'Plug-ins', which are stock designs
which can be modified by changing the original clipart, text, typestyles, and
colors.
On caps, we only do embroidery.
